Hello, teachers!

Music is a favorite subject for me because it is near and dear to my heart. It could have something to do with a father and sister who loved to sing, with beautiful voices. My dad also introduced me to a variety of music (especially jazz from the 40s and 50s) that I am cherishing even more since he passed away.

Music is a big part of our day - not only in our classroom, but even when we go to the gym or outside. I grab my portable bluetooth speaker if I'm playing music from my playlists. I also love to sing. I don't have a voice like my dad or sister, but you know what? The children don't notice. I've only had a few hold their ears when I sing. Ha! 😜

Seriously, I can't stress enough how music has saved many of our days. If the mood suddenly changes, turn on music. If there is an over abundance of energy, turn on music. If my circle time isn't going as planned, turn on music. If we can't go outside due to bad weather ... well, you get the idea.

I also love having a variety of musical instruments on hand. I will put a basket of instruments in the center of our circle time area and then turn on some music and we all start dancing!

I'm also going to show you what saves me when it comes to planning music and remembering the lyrics: my music binder.
